— Movies in the Park: The Grinch @ Balcones District Park | Thursday, Dec. 5 | 4:30 pm – 8 pm | Join Austin Parks Foundation for its last Movies in the Park event of 2024! This Movies in the Park will take place Thursday, December 5th at Balcones District Park. Head out to the park for some fun holiday cheer, and puppy snuggles, and watch a beloved holiday classic, The Grinch (2018). Stop by before the movie as early as 4:30 pm for some fun holiday crafts by Painting Pandas, cute puppies visits, and take pictures with Santa Paws from our friends at the Austin Humane Society. Holiday Music
– Holiday Sing-Along & Stroll @ 8th & Congress | Saturday, Dec. 7 | 3 pm – 8 pm | Join KUT News, KUTX 98.9 & the Downtown Austin Alliance for the 30th Annual Tree Lighting, Sing-Along and Stroll. This free family-friendly event is on Congress Avenue between 8th and 11th streets, and features artisan vendors, food trucks, photos with Santa and more. — Austin Sympohony Orchesta Presents The Nightmare Before Christmas @ Long Center for the Perfoming Arts | Tuesday Dec. 17 | 7:30 pm| One of Tim Burton’s most celebrated films, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, will be projected on the big screen with dialog and effects accompanied by Danny Elfman’s enigmatic score played live by your Austin Symphony Orchestra! The film follows the earnest-but-misguided adventures of Jack Skellington, Halloween Town’s beloved Pumpkin King. Bored with the same old scare-and-scream routine of Halloween, Jack longs to try something new. Convinced that he can spread the joy of Christmas and against the advice of Sally, a caring and clever ragdoll, Jack enlists three mischievous trick-or-treaters – Lock, Shock, and Barrel – to kidnap Santa Claus.
