HONK!TX is a nonprofit, community-driven, volunteer-led festival that brings brass bands from around the globe to perform an array of genres ranging from European Klezmer and Balkan, to New Orleans second-line brass music, in the public spaces of Austin. This year, there are 29 participating bands (2 international bands, 11 out-of-town bands, 16 local bands). It’s more than just a music festival — it is a celebration of community, collaboration, individuality, and creative expression.

Over the course of three days, dozens of bands will play for the public in many locations in Austin. Click here to see the massive line-up & schedule. This year they will be back at Adams/Hemphill Park on Saturday and Pan-Am Park on Sunday, and performing in a new location for Friday night around the beautiful Mueller Lake Park!

  • Friday, March 29 — Mueller Lake Park, 6-10 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 30 — Adams Park, 11:30 a.m. -7 p.m. (also in surrounding areas: Spiderhouse Cafe & Wheatsville Co-op)
  • Sunday, March 31, Pan-Am Park, 12 – 5 p.m.

Take note of this extra special event for kids:

Preschool of Honk at Adams-Hemphill Park — Saturday, March 30, 11:30 a.m.
All toddlers love to whack pans or blow on a recorder, and HONK!TX is just the place for it. Join Kat Brotherton of Ms Kat’s Music & Movement and Laura Freeman of the Hey Lolly Brass Band for an all-preschool jam session, complete with song singing and drum banging, starting at 11:30 a.m. in Adams-Hemphill Park on Saturday. There’s also an instrument making workshop that starts at 11 a.m. Sign up to participate by emailing honktx@gmail.com.

For all events, bring along a blanket or folding chairs, water, hats & sunscreen and settle in for a great time!
