We have had amazing weather these past few weeks- patio season is definitely here! One of our favorite things to do on the weekend when the weather is nice is to drive out to the Jester King Brewery, located roughly 20 miles southwest of downtown Austin. This farmhouse brewery uses locally grown grains and native wild yeast to create an impressive array of beers that are uniquely Texas.

The brewery has a tasting room that is open on Fridays from 4 pm – 10 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 6 pm. FREE tours of the brewery are scheduled throughout the weekend. All ages are welcome on the tour.

After you’ve tried some beers and picked your favorite(s), head on down to the adjacent open air pavilion that houses Stanley’s Farmhouse Pizza. Grab a seat at one of the picnic tables inside this gorgeous space and get ready to thank your lucky stars you live in Texas! Order a pizza and some garlic knots from Stanley’s, sit back and sip your beer while your kids play a game of cornhole, dance on the dance floor if there is live music or dig in the dirt! There is a large field adjacent to the pavilion where we’ve seen families fly kites, blow bubbles and play a game of football.

The pizza at Stanley’s is good, although it might be a little “fancy” for the younger kids. It is requested that no outside food or drink is brought in, so you may want to do what we did and ask that your pizza be made a little more “kid-friendly.” You can also order wine and other non- alcoholic drinks here in addition to cupcakes! The pizzas are wood fired so it may take a while, but since your kids will be happily playing and you will be happily enjoying the ambience, the time will go by fast!

Good beers, good pizza, gorgeous kid-approved Hill Country setting. We hope you check out this little gem for yourself! For more information, visit the Jester King Brewery and Stanley’s Farmhouse Pizza Facebook pages.

Note: Stanley’s Farmhouse Pizza has slightly different hours than the brewery. It is open Fridays 5 – 9 pm, Saturdays 11:30 am – 4 pm and Sundays 11:30 am – 3 pm. Plan accordingly!
