One of our favorite places for pizza and casual outdoor family hangs is the popular hill country beer garden, Jester King Brewery. With more than 165 acres of land, Jester King provides guests plenty of room to spread out for lunch or dinner in park-like grounds. In fact, Jester King’s property is actually bigger than some Texas State Parks!
On our latest visit, we were thrilled to meet their latest baby goats and to take a nature walk along their 2-mile trail. Here’s the scoop on what to expect at Jester King…
— Baby Goats: The next kids to be born are expected for May, but as the Jester King team notes on their Facebook page, “we don’t have an exact date as both nature and our goats can be unpredictable!” The best time to see the goats is either when they are hanging out in the goatyard area or during their sunset graze through the Pasture and Hopyard. Of course, before reaching out to pet the animals, please be mindful of the babies and ask the farmer or goat apprentice if you are allowed to do so.
— Nature Trail: Jester King Brewery has a 2-mile nature trail on the property to allow guests take a stroll before or after enjoying delicious pizza and beer. Complete with signage, as well as the option to take a shorter, 0.5 farm trail loop, the trail will gives you the opportunity to hike in the beautiful Texas Hill Country… and see some goats along the way!
Jester King has set up their spacious outdoor setting in a very organized way featuring six areas spread across 250 yards: The Vineyard, The Beer Garden, The Pasture, The Hop Yard, The Canopy, and The Goat Pen.Because the land is expansive, you can choose to be closer the original Beer Garden and restrooms or as far away into the farm-like setting as you wish. When making decisions about where you’d like to sit, just keep in mind that once your order is ready, you will need to walk back to and from to pick up your food and drink. A little walk was not a problem for us, so we opted to sit father away near the animals to provide more entertainment for the kids.
While we happened to be there on a hot Sunday afternoon, we were happy with the amount of shade in each sitting area to provide some covering from the summer sun.
Of course, with kids, you can’t go wrong with a menu of items such as pizzas and salads. And we were happy to try a few of their beers. Thumbs up all around!
The whole experience was really great, and we were happy to be out in a farm-like setting for a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
