National Pancake Day! Austin’s Best Pancakes

We’re super into these delightful excuses er honorary holidays, to have a delicious treat and celebrate a favorite food!  Tuesday, February 13 is National Pancake Day, which pairs perfectly with Fat Tuesday, so we’re serving up where to get the best ones in Austin!  Since it’s an honorary holiday, there’s a little confusion on which day to celebrate — what else can we do but call it Pancake Month?

Where to Get Your Pancakes

JP’s serves up the sweetest dessert pancakes in Austin with options like “Chocolate Mountain” complete with milk chocolate pancakes topped with chocolate syrup, brownie bits, and chocolate chips on top. These treats are a meal in a cup, and you can check out their food trucks at 2513 Rio Grande St, or 1311 S. 1st Street, or order delivery here.

Texas Honey Ham is known for their premium meats and catering, but did you know you can get buttermilk pancakes or a pancake wrapped around grilled honey ham (their version of Pig in a Blanket)?  Check out their hours here.

Kerbey Lane is where you want to go for breakfast all day, every day.  They have seasonal pancakes and the pancake of the month is the beignet, shown above.  Don’t forget – on Tuesdays, kids eat free at Kerbey Lane with the purchase of an adult entree.

IHOP has a one-day in-house offer of a free short stack on National Pancake Day.  Grab yours this February 13 from 7 am – 7 pm.  From their original Buttermilk with fruit toppings to their special this month, Beignet Pancakes, IHOP has many options for delicious, fluffy pancakes and crepes.


Snooze has three Austin locations to choose from and choose Snooze you should.  They have a great kids’ menu, amazing breakfast and brunch cocktails, and of course, incredible pancakes.  They don’t take reservations but you can join their waitlist before you head out to cut down on your wait time.  Get more info here.

Magnolia Cafe flips about a thousand pancakes a week, so you know they’re pros.  Their daily pancake flavors are Buttermilk, Gingerbread, and GF Cornmeal, and you can get them plain or with your favorite ingredients.  They also have an awesome kids’ menu where they can build their own brekky plate.

Phoebe’s Diner offers pancakes all day and has a great kids’ menu.  You can add on to their traditional Buttermilk Stack (or single pancake!) with Strawberries, Blueberries, Chocolate Chips, and of course, whipped butter and syrup.  You can join their virtual waitlist for dine-in at their Downtown or Oltorf locations here.

Tiny Boxwoods’ weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays has perfect Blueberry Pancakes. They’re served with blueberry compote, whipped honey butter, and warm maple syrup. You can make your reservation here and don’t forget to grab some of their famous baked goods at the to-go counter upfront.


Josephine House Lemon Ricotta Pancakes via fB

Josephine House serves brunch daily from 9 am – 3 pm and their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes are a must-try. Served with strawberries, blueberries, maple syrup, and house-cultured butter, their fluffy Lemmon Ricotta stack is top-notch.  Make your reservation on Open Table or call (512) 477-5584.

Cafe No Se is open seven days a week and if you’re a pancake fan, you’ve got to try their buttermilk hotcakes with preserved lemon curd, and hibiscus syrup.  They also have a Ricotta Hotcake on the kids’ menu.  You can dine in or take out and check out their menu here.
