Sometimes going camping sounds like such a great idea until you actually think about all of the planning involved. You want to take the kids to explore the great outdoors but have to research where to go, what campsites are available, map out the drive, etc.

Well, we certainly encourage you to check out our round-up of Best Camping Spots Around Austin to guide you on your next big adventure. But if you want an easy peasy camping experience in the convenient location of Old Settler’s Park, the City of Round Rock’s Parks & Rec Department invites you to the perfect outing!

Gather your family and friends for the annual Outdoor Family Campout on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22 and 23, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, September 23, you can stick around the park for a morning of fun activities that celebrate National Hunting & Fishing Day!

You’ll pop your tent around the Lakeview Pavilion, eat dinner provided by Fuddruckers, play games, sit around the campfire eating s’mores and then head off to sleep under the stars. Wake up with the sunrise and enjoy breakfast, and then check out plenty of morning activities.

There will also be a tent decorating contest on Friday evening, so bring your most creative stuff to ‘spruce’ up your tent for the chance to win prizes.

–> Registration Info: Advanced registration for the campout is required, which you can do online here. The registration fee is $10 through September 21 and then increases to $15. Each registered participant will receives a t-shirt and two meals (hamburger dinner provided by Fuddruckers on Friday evening & pancake breakfast on Saturday morning, vegetarian option available if requested by September 17).
