Every month, the city of Austin hosts Planet Music, an event that showcases music from around the world. Friday’s performance will feature Middle Eastern music and dancing. Doors open at 6 pm; performances are from 7 – 9 pm.

This show is free and family-friendly, so bring the kids. The first half will be a concert medley of Middle Eastern music including Persian/Iranian, Afghani and Azeri songs, and will be followed by a dance performance by the Ravaan Persian Dancers.

The second half will be an interactive dance lesson and “Beats Class.” The Austin International Folk Dancers will lead the audience in a dance lesson for each beat-cycle/time signature: songs in 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, all the way up to 15/4 if there is time.
