Shark Week at the Science Mill

We’re fascinated by them. We’re terrified of them! Sharks are getting all the attention July 26 – 31 during Shark Week at the Science Mill in Johnson City, where everyone’s invited to dive in and learn about these underwater predators.

Shark Week Activities

  • Dogfish Shark Dissections (Tuesday – Friday, 11am & 1pm daily) Join the Living Exhibits Manager Ryan as he dissects and talks through the life and biology of sharks.

  • Sharks! Fact or Fiction ( 11:30am & 1:30pm Tues, Wed & Fri; 11:30am Thurs ) Test your shark knowledge in a fact or fiction trivia game!

  • Matt “The Shark Guy” Marchant (Thursday 1:30pm, Saturday 11am & 1pm)

  • Great White Shark 3D (Every hour)

  • Sharks in Motion – Learn about individual sharks in the Gulf of Mexico and all around the world by following OCEARCH tracking sharks on an interactive map.

  • Replica Megalodon Jaws – Get your photo taken with the remains of the largest shark to ever live. Stop by the touch table in the bio lab to examine an actual megalodon tooth!

  • What’s in the Gut – Reach your hand into the Science Mill’s shark stomach. Discover what a shark digests in a very hands on way!

  • Dig for Shark Teeth – Search for shark teeth and bones in the fossil dig exhibit.

All of the above activities are included with your regular museum admission: free for ages 0-2; $9.50 for ages 3-18; $11 for adults; $9 for seniors.
