Star Wars Reads Day is coming up on Saturday, October 10! It’s a celebration that pairs kids love of that galaxy far, far away with the joy of reading. Bookstores, libraries, and retailers will participate in the fourth annual installment of this global event, featuring storytimes, costume contests and more. Check out the list of Austin area events where you can join the fun on Star Wars Reads Day!

–> Titan Moon Comics (Round Rock): Enjoy Star Wars Reads Day activities from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., including a costume contest, coloring contest, giveaways, store-wide sales, and a guest doing quick sketches for the kids!

–> Barnes & Nobles Stores:  Enjoy storytime and various activities at the following Barnes & Noble stores in the Austin area. The La Frontera location noted that they will be doing LEGO builds & a trivia contests, too. Free!

–> Round Rock Public Library: Star Wars fans are invited to assemble (in costume) at the Round Rock Library for Star Wars Reads Day from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Activities include at storytime at 11 a.m. with firefighters dressed as Yoda, Princess Leia, and other characters. And from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. there will be come-and-go activities such as games, crafts, give-aways, quiz opportunities, and a photo booth. Free!

–> Austin Public Library Old Quarry Branch: On Saturday, Oct. 17 Austin Public Library is keeping the fun alive at the Star Wars Reads Redux — celebrating one week after the rest of the world!  Use the force in lightsaber and nerf ‘blaster’ games, make TIE fighter crafts and collectible buttons of your favorite character. Wear your best Jedi or Sith robes to Padawan storytime then stay for a costume contest and capture your moment at the Galaxy photo booth! Free and open to the public.
