Just in time for much-needed summer adventures, the Austin Steam Train Association invites you to ride the rails through the Texas Hill Country! If this is your first time taking a ride with Austin Steam Train, know that you’re in for a fun, leisurely ride — as well as a glimpse back in time. One of the goals of this nonprofit locomotive organization is to re-create first-hand experiences of historic railroading. Kids and grown-ups of all ages will enjoy boarding vintage train cars that are fully restored for modern comfort.
The Austin Steam Train Association is thrilled to run special train trips all summer long! Tickets are now available for June including the Bertram Flyer, Father’s Day Flyer, and Sunset Express. Plus, the adorable Teddy Bear Train will be returning again in July!
Take a ride on the Bertram Flyer:
Riding on a historic train is such a unique experience! Where else can you ride in a living museum? Sit back for a relaxing journey into passenger railroad’s glorious past onboard the Bertram Flyer! The vintage train cars are from the golden era of rail travel, built in the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s, and fully restored for your enjoyment. On board the train, your 44-mile journey spans the South San Gabriel River and stops for a 15-minute layover at our historic 1912 Bertram Depot. (This ride is 3.5 hours round trip.) Enjoy views of Short Creek Canyon, the 300-foot-long wooden trestle bridge over the South San Gabriel, and the Duffy-Shamrock communications mast-one of the tallest structures in the world!
Book Your Tickets: You can visit www.austinsteamtrain.org to make your online reservation and find more details or call 512-402-3830 to book over the phone. Keep in mind that this could be a very fun experience for Dad or Grandpa for a Father’s Day gift.
