Kinds in a New Groove (KING), a local nonprofit organization that provides kids in foster one-on-one mentoring relationships through private music lessons, will be holding its annual fundraiser next month. Music for the Soul will be at Speakeasy on Thursday, May 1 at 6:30 pm.
If the slogan “Keep Austin Weird” had its own festival, Eeyore’s Birthday would be it. Get weird at Pease Park on Saturday, Apr. 26 from 11 am until dark, the children’s area will be open from 11 am – 4 pm and live music from noon – 6 pm. Admission is FREE! Dress code will be Austin-formal: tutus, bikinis, fairy wings and flip flops. Costumes are encouraged and there will be a contest. Props: hula hoops, bubbles and flower garlands.
Enjoy a beer while you help raise money for local animal rescue groups at Pints for Pups, hosted by the Independence Brewing Company. This family-friendly and dog-friendly event is from 1 – 3 pm this Saturday, April 19.
Walk with purpose this Saturday, Feb. 22 at Illuminate Austin: A Walk for Safe Families from 4:30 – 8 pm at Mueller Lake Park Outdoor Amphitheater. Bring your whole family and join together as a community for an early evening stroll through the park, along a path lined with beautiful luminarias. This fun, family-friendly event benefits SafePlace, which provides shelter and essential services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Austin. A registration fee is not required, but a $20 donation is welcomed and appreciated.
