The Academy of Games is hosting a fun five-day Spring Break camp for kids ages 8-12. Taking place in-person at Butler Park by the Palmer Center, The Academy of Games will be running kids through the exciting adventure of the Hero’s Journey from March 15 – 19, 2021. Kids will explore their own personal “Call to Adventure” with collaborative worldbuilding, character creation, and scene staging in an action-packed outdoor roleplaying experience.

Each day will feature a new aspect of the journey, so attendance for all five days is highly encouraged, but The Academy of Games will be accepting new attendees on each of the first four days for those who can’t attend the full camp. Check out this fun daily lineup:

Day 1: The Call to Adventure!
Kids will collaboratively build the world of the game and create their own characters. What kind of world do we want to inhabit for the week? Exploring the differences between genres and how to mix and match them to make our perfect setting.

Day 2: Villains & Innocents!
The kids will populate the world they’ve created with friends and foes! We answer together what makes a great bad guy so wonderfully bad and what makes the friends and allies of the heroes’ world memorable and engaging!

Day 3: Problems & Perils!
We spend the day collectively developing the challenges the kids will need to overcome and stage the scene for their adventure. This is where kids set off on their path toward becoming a hero!

Day 4: Special Powers!
Kids will explore the lessons they’ve learned and the rewards they earned for their valiant efforts. What challenges do they face now that they’ve overcome the initial problems of their journey?

Day 5: The Return & Gifts!
The last big challenge of their quest! Who and what will the kids face and why are the stakes so high? The completion of their adventure and a party to celebrate!

–> Registration Info: The camp will take place from March 15-19 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (pickup begins at 1 p.m.) The cost is only $40 per day or $175 for all five days.
