Families can enjoy the next children’s play in ZACH Theatre‘s season of storybook-inspired shows — Tomás and the Library Lady, based on the book by Pat Mora. This show runs from Friday, January 15 through Sunday, February 14, and tells an inspirational story of a boy named Tomás who meets a “library lady” who encourages him to read. — About the Play: Tomás immigrates with his family from Mexico with fears of a new life and a lack of confidence in his language and culture until one day when he meets a “library lady” who recognizes his thirst for knowledge and encourages him to read. Based on the true story of the Mexican-American author and educator Tomás Rivera, this inspirational story suggests what reading — and self-respect — can make possible. This production is done in partnership with the University of Texas at Austin department of Theatre and Dance, and is recommended for ages 5 & up.
