Amazon Studios has a new upcoming family film, Troop Zero, about a young girl that dreams big and dares to be different. The film is set in rural Georgia in 1977 and follows a misfit who dreams of life in outer space. When a national competition offers her a chance to be recorded on NASA’s Golden Record, she recruits a makeshift troop of Birdie Scouts, forging friendships that last a lifetime and beyond.

The film will be released on Amazon Prime Video on January 17, but you have the chance to attend a very special screening of the film along with three of the movie’s child stars — Mckenna Grace, Charlie Shotwell, and Milan Ray — who will be in attendance for a Q&A with the audience! This private screening event takes place on Thursday, January 16 at Alamo Drafthouse Mueller, and we are raffling off 20 reserved seats to this exciting event.

Guests can arrive early for a pre-party in Barrel O’Fun at 6 p.m. with a live science demo along with food and drinks for the whole family. The film screening will start at 7:30 p.m., and you can stick around afterwards to chat with the kid actors from the movie, too.

Please note that this event is not open to the public. We are thrilled to offer a ticket giveaway with our friends at Fons PR. Please fill out the form at the bottom of this page to enter to win!

More About Troop Zero: This comedy-drama is directed by Bert & Bertie from a screenplay by Beasts of the Southern Wild co-writer Lucy Alibar. The film stars Viola Davis, Mckenna Grace, Jim Gaffigan, Mike Epps, Charlie Shotwell, and Allison Janney. Rated PG; run time is 97 minutes.

Plot: Nine-year-old oddball Christmas Flint (Mckenna Grace) is obsessed with space and making contact with the aliens of the universe. When she finds out the prize at the 1977 Birdie Jamboree is getting her voice on NASA’s Golden Record, Christmas forms her own misfit Birdie troop. Nothing can prepare them for the painfully perfect world of the legit Birdies. But, led by their reluctant yet fearless troop mama (Viola Davis) and Christmas’s dad (Jim Gaffigan), they find glory in the most unexpected circumstances—much to the despair of the ever-judgmental school principal, Miss Massey (Allison Janney).
