ZACH Theatre – There’s a virtual camp for kids of all ages at the Zach Theatre! The little ones can sing, dance, and play, while grades 6 – 12 have the opportunity to participate in Zach Academy. In partnership with iUniversity Prep, this option allows students to participate in a Musical Theatre or Acting track.
Creative Action – Creative Action is offering an Online Learning Hub that includes how-to videos, tutorials, and movement lessons. Check their website weekly, for newly added content.
Orpheus Academy of Music — Have the kiddos participate in weekly online group classes or private lessons. The 4 to 7 group will learn songs from different cultures and learn about rhythm, while ages 8 to 13 will focus more on teamwork and song composition.
UT School of Design and Creative Technologies — Camps for high school students designed and taught by UT faculty — entirely online. Students will learn about game design, graphic design, and animation. Through each program, students have the opportunity to create a portfolio piece as they prepare to apply for college. For ages 14 – 18 and held from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Austin Film Festival — Austin Film Festival is now offering both in person and virtual summer camps. These sessions will cover directing, claymation, filmmaking, screenwriting, and more! The virtual options will cater to at-home filmmaking.
The Art Garage — This June, week-long online camps will be offered that focus on process, technique, and art history. Campers will have the option of renting supplies or buying it to keep. Stay tuned for updates in regard to July and August classes.
Mess Maker Studios — In addition to their online classes, Mess Maker studios will now be offering online classes and art kits that can be shipped to your home. Online classes will include storytimes and crafts, while the in person sessions will explore paper mache, clay making, and painting.
Austin Scottish Rite Theatre — Kids can have a blast learning about acting, dancing, Shakespeare, and more! June classes have been cancelled, but July sessions are still on. Subscribe to their newsletter for updates on future classes as well as tutorials on camp activities.
Wicked Workshop — This youth architecture project-based program that provides kids with problem-solving skills through an interactive curriculum. Classes will now consist of online projects. You can choose to take the remaining classes or simply one at a time.
Thinkery – All camps for June 1-5 and June 8-12 have been cancelled, however Thinkery is now offering STEAM Activity Packs. Each kit includes activities on a variety of subjects that encourage kids to explore their creative side. Online office hours and weekly unboxings will be held. If feasible, classes will be held in July.
iD Tech — Virtual tech camps are now being offered that allow kids to sharpen their STEM skills and make friends from home! Weeklong sessions will cover a variety of softwares such as Java, Minecraft, Roblox, and more. Students will receive 2 hour live sessions and well as 2 hours of collaboration time with their peers.
Code Galaxy — Code Galaxy is now offering online summer classes! These courses will teach children about coding, in addition to helping them build their portfolio. Programs are enrolling now for 3rd – 12th grades.
Paramount Theatre — Take part in virtual two-week performing arts camps with a professional team of teaching artists that you know and love will engage your kids in guided classes and activities. Campers will participate in acting, singing, and dancing, as well as theatre tech and design classes. All camps will provide a final professionally-edited video performance celebrating the students’ hard work.
Play-Well TEKnologies — Kids ages 5-12 will engineer interesting LEGO-inspired projects, engage in critical thinking, work collaboratively and learn STEM concepts all while playing with over 20,000 LEGO bricks. In person camps are still being offered at several Austin locations, in addition to online courses. Virtual classes will be held over Zoom, and will still cover the same subjects as the in-person version.
Neuron Garage — Although in-person classes have been cancelled, virtual sessions have now been added! Campers will have live online sessions where they will learn about engineering and recycling. You can register on an initial 2-day no risk trial.
Mad Science of Austin —Kids can now learn about science and create experiments from the comfort of their own home! Students can sign up for 1-10 hours of weekly online courses covering subjects such as NASA, robots, and more. In addition, Mad Science has compiled a list of free at home experiments and coloring sheets on their website.
Austin Sunshine Camps — Join Austin Sunshine Camps for a special 2020 season consisting of yoga, crafts, games, and building lasting friendships from the safety and comfort of home. The two-week sessions include games like D&D, creative activities like play writing, physically active activities like Fitnessgram Challenges, TikTok tutorials, and more. Registration is FREE, and includes a craft pack if you are in the Austin area.
Andy Roddick Foundation Summer At Home Camps — ARF Summer at Home offers hands-on learning activities for students in Kindergarten to 5th grade around an Explore Your World theme. From June 8-July 31, students will explore space, Earth, world travel, cultures and language, oceans, jungles, deserts, and animals through engaging videos and lesson plans. Designed by elementary school teachers, all activities are aligned to the Texas Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. Participation is FREE, and you can sign up here.
UTeach Outreach Virtual STEM Academy — UTeach Outreach’s Virtual STEM Academy is a new online program designed to help students stay engaged, make connections, and get excited about learning. The program features a collection of 20 different course modules, ranging from Chemistry for 3rd Graders to Calculus for 11th graders. For 3rd – 11th graders. Registration is open now!
Mother Falcon Music Lab — These Virtual Summer courses focus on relevant topics as developed and led by a diverse collective of acclaimed Artist Instructors. In this virtual experience, you can join the MFML community to celebrate our voices, collaborate, and create our world! Classes range from How to Write a Protest Song and Decolonizing the Music Industry, to Album Art to Podcasting. Classes run from early July into August.
Camp Circus Picnic — Camp Circus Picnic is virtual summer camp dedicated to getting K-5th kids off screens and into nature and their imaginations. Each week, they offer heads-up adventures that teach new skills, develop social and emotional learning, and help kids feel connected to something bigger.
