Get ready for Austin’s largest Dia de los Muertos event on Saturday, Oct. 31! The Mexic-Arte Museum and The City of Austin will host the annual Viva la Vida Festival from 12-8 p.m. in downtown Austin. This free festival includes a Grand Parade/Procession, artists and musicians, local food trucks and hands-on art activities for kids.
–> Parade: The Grand Procession gathers on 6th street at 11 a.m. between Chicon and Comal in East Austin, bringing together a vibrant and varied mix of the traditional, contemporary, and Austin “weird”. The Procession — including costumes, props, live music, dancers, and floats — begins at 12 p.m. and marches down historic 6th Street and culminates at 4th Street and Congress Avenue Brazos Hal, marking the transition from the afternoon to the exciting evening portion of the street festival.
–> Kids Activities: The Education Section of the festival will be located on the Pavilion of Frost Bank, on the Northeast corner of 4th and Congress. Activities will include mask making, group message board and more. Families are welcome to bring children of all ages.
–> Music: Special performances by Gina Chavez, DJ Chorizo Funk, Tiarra Girls
–> Food: Enjoy food from Chi’Lantro and Veracruz All Natural
