Take the whole family to the MACC (Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center) on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 7 -10 p.m. for ¡VIVA MÉXICO! Celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day with music, art and tradition at this free, annual event.
A variety of children’s activities will begin at 7 p.m. All visitors are also invited to attend the art opening in the main gallery featuring photography from Joel Salcido.
Music begins at 8 p.m. and includes:
- La Rondalla — MACC’s own rondalla group. (A rondalla is a group of musicians traditionally formed randomly on the streets of any Latin American country.)
- Danza Azteca Guadalupana — A group of 24 dancers performing traditional pre-Columbian Aztec dance.
- Trio Los Vigilantes — Formed in the late 1990’s with the idea of transporting their listeners to the days of yesteryear.
- Lesly Reynaga — Performer from the musical play Mariachi Girl.
This event is free for the entire family! A shuttle will be available at Sanchez Elementary and Martin Middle School. There will be free parking on Holly St.
