Wonder, the New York Times bestselling book, is now coming to big screen in a film adaptation of the inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters a fifth grade classroom as his first time in a mainstream school. With the anti-bullying and “choose kind” messages, this film looks like a must-see for all older-elementary and middle grades.

The film officially hits theatres on Nov. 17, but we have the hook-up on an exclusive screening event on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. We’d love to bring 20 of you along to join us!

–> Choose Kind: After reading the book, students, parents, teachers have really embraced Wonder’s message to “choose kind” in such a big and powerful way, by making it a rallying cry against bullying and social isolation. Here in Austin, there are a few ways that you can get involved in the Choose Kind initiative in anticipation of the film’s debut:

  • Choose Kind Art Contest: What does the book Wonder mean to you? You can submit a drawing, painting or photograph to FonsPR for the chance to win 10 passes to the film screening on Nov. 14. Artwork must be submitted by Nov. 9 to the Fons PR office located at 4408 Burnet Rd., Suite A, Austin, TX 78756. Maximum size is 8 1/2 x 11″ and should include name, grade, school and contact info on the back. Contact [email protected] with questions.
