X Games Takes Over Downtown

Austin is host to The X Games for the first time this weekend, Friday June 6 – Sunday June 8 at Circuit of The Americas. Tickets are going fast, get yours here. Not going to make it to the games this year? Don’t fret.

On Thursday, June 5, head downtown for a FREE BMX and Skateboard competition! The Vert ramp will be at 10th St. and Congress Ave. in front of the Texas State Capitol building.Tony Hawk & Friends will present a 30-minute demo followed by Skateboard and BMX Finals.

After the demo, the night culminates with a Myspace concert featuring Holy Ghost at ACL Live, Moody Theatre on 2nd street. You must RSVP here for free access to the concert, but your RSVP does not guarantee entry. Seating will be first come, first-served until Moody Theatre is filled to capacity.

At Texas State Capital

  • Tony Hawk & Friends Demo – 5 pm -> featuring skateboard and BMX legends and current athletes Mat Hoffman, Neal Hendrix, Kevin Robinson, Kevin Staab, Elliot Sloan, Alex Perelson and more.
  • Skateboard Vert Round One – 6:30 pm
  • BMX Vert Final – 8 pm
  • Skateboard Vert Final – 9 pm

At Moody Theatre

Myspace Presents: Holy Ghost at Moody Theatre – 10 pm

There’s lots of fun to be had by X Games fans of all ages. Avoid rush hour traffic and the nightmare of finding parking downtown at that time of day and ride the metro rail!
