On Saturday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 13, you can walk among thousands of luminaries and twinkling lights during the annual Luminations at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Everyone’s invited to this Austin holiday tradition from 6-9 p.m. that includes 2,300 luminarias, live music, children’s crafts, a visit from Frosty the Snowman, and reduced admission fees.

Activities on both nights:

  • Visit with Frosty the Snowman.
  • Enjoy children’s crafts in the Gallery.
  • Try the Geography of a Holiday Tree activity in the McDermott Learning Center.
  • Munch on warm kettle corn, available for purchase from Lone Star Kettle Corn.
  • New this year:  A full bar in the “Luminations Lounge”

Saturday, December 12:

  • 6-9 p.m. — Susan Holt Kralovansky signs Twelve Cowboys Ropin’ in the Store from 6pm-9pm.
  • 6 p.m.: Austin Banjo Club plays in the Courtyard; Violin and Viola Students of Jeni Martens play in the Family Garden
  • 7 p.m. — Bill Oliver & the Otter Space Band play in the Courtyard; Lucas Miller plays in the Family Garden
  • 8 p.m. — Annie and Kate play in the Courtyard; The Madonna’s play in the Family Garden

Sunday, December 13:

  • 6-9 p.m. — Scarf and Necktie Special in the Store! Plus, tastings of Yaupon tea.
  • 6 p.m. — Bailey Middle School Steel Band plays in the Courtyard; Chalameau Quartet plays in the Family Garden
  • 7 p.m. — Lone Star Swing Syndicate plays in the Courtyard;  Joe McDermott plays in the Family Garden
  • 8 p.m. — Lone Star Swing Syndicate plays in the Courtyard; Violin and Viola Students of Jeni Martens play in the Family Garden

Reduced Admission:

  • Adults – $5
  • Seniors 65 and older – $5
  • Students with college ID – $5
  • Youth ages 5-17: $3
  • Free for members and children 4 years and under

The Wilflower Center will also collect food donations for the Capital Area Food Bank at this event. Find their most requested items here.
