Friday:

— Chill out at Haymaker for their Sno Cone Happy Hour from 4 – 8 pm. Adult sno cones with vodka are just $3 and alcohol-free sno cones are free. A nice start to to your evening. Note: this is a sports bar type place and though it is family friendly, it isn’t the type of joint where you should unload a bunch of preschoolers.

— The Frozen Party on Ice at Chaparral Ice Center will feature free frozen yogurt giveaways from Yogurtland, an all Disney playlist, a Disney costume contest, a special visit from Olaf and special skate performances to two hit songs from the movie. Admission to Chaparral Ice Center costs $6 and skate rentals are $4, party is from 6:30 – 9 pm.

— The Tie-Dye Workshop at The Art Garage will give the kids a chance to keep Austin weird and tie-dye T-shirts. Workshop is open from 3 – 7 pm and costs $16 (includes materials). Call ahead with estimated time of arrival and shirt sizes. The Art Garage’s number is 512-852-9900.

Saturday:

— See a magic show the way it was meant to be seen – in an 100-year-old vaudeville theatre! Magic at the Capitol’s 2 pm show at Scottish Rite Theater is sold out, but there are still tickets available for the 7 pm performance that features award-winning magicians from all over Texas! Tickets are $15 for children 12 and under and adult tickets are $20. You can purchase them here.

— Cool off at the Deep Eddy Movie Night at Deep Eddy Pool where you can catch a screening of “The LEGO Movie” while relaxing on a raft or stretched out on the grass. Pool admission rates apply. Costs $3 for adults, $2 for ages 12 – 17, $1 for kids ages 1 – 11 and $1 for Seniors 62 and older.

Art in the Park is a free, family-oriented afternoon of creative activities at Bartholomew Park from 10 am – 1 pm. Families can enjoy music, games, live painting, a miniature interactive “Cathedral of Junk” project and more. Perfect for ages 5 – 12.

— The Formula Sun Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas will feature family friendly activities from 8:30 am – 5 pm on its Official Public Day. Activities include a children’s solar car building workshop, solar radio controlled cars and clean energy exhibits. Admission and parking is free, concessions will be available for purchase. All activities will be in the paddock area with the ability to see the race from the stands.

Sunday:

— Wake up and head to Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline for a free screening of “Frankenweenie” as part of the Alamo Kids Camp series. Movie starts at 10 am and seating is first come, first serve so be sure to arrive around 30 minutes early.

— Join Austin Kula Yoga for their Family Yoga Class from 11 am – 12 pm. Your family will be led through group and partner poses, relaxation techniques and lots of merriment. Class is $25 per family and you can sign up here.

Peter & the Piper continues at the Long Center with a performance at 2 pm. This latest production from Pollyanna Theatre Company is all about friendship and is perfect for audiences 8 and older (though all ages will enjoy the show). Tickets are $10 – $13.50 and you can buy them here.
