Once again, we are here to applaud Austin for having so many gorgeous green spaces that offer loads of FREE family-friendly fun. In addition to simply having grassy areas to run, play, picnic, and enjoy being outdoors, there are also TONS of awesome free activities planned in parks around the area. Puppets, Yoga & Storytime in Pease Park

  • Sept 13 from 10 am – 10:45 am: Toddler Yoga with ATX Yoga Girl.  Come breathe, stretch, create, dance, move, and have fun at Kingsbury Commons at Pease Park.  Register here.
  • September 16 from 10 am – 11 am: Storytime for young readers with Austin children’s book Author, Megan P. Browne.  Browne is the author of Indelible Anne, Dorothy the Brave, and a new book coming this fall called The Bees of Notre Dame.   Register here.
  • Sept. 23 at 10 am: Small Wonders Puppet Theater will perform a lively puppet show for audiences of all ages at the Outdoor Plaza in Kingsbury Commons. Free! RSVP here.

Morning Glories in Waterloo Park

On Tuesdays at 10 am from September 19 – October 17, join this weekly early childhood education series that aims to provide hands-on activities and programs focusing on literacy, bilingual storytelling, music and dance workshops, cultural learning, and nature play. Morning Glories takes place on the Meredith Heritage Tree Deck at 1301 Trinity St.

Austin Parks Foundation’s Movies in the Park

You can pack a picnic, relax on a blanket, and enjoy a fun FREE night out with the family watching movies under the stars! For more than 10 years, Austin Parks Foundation has brought movies to neighborhood parks across Austin ensuring the entire community has access to free outdoor entertainment.

The Trail Foundation’s Live Music Series

The Trail Foundation presents the Music on the Trail fall series featuring local musicians performing on the Ann & Roy Butler Hike & Bike Trail each Saturday morning through November 25.  To find out who’s playing and where to find them, you can check the schedule here, or the foundation’s Instagram stories every Friday for the details.

Creekside Hangouts with Shoal Creek Conservancy

The Creekside Hangouts include free games, giveaways, and outdoor fun along the Shoal Creek Trail on various dates through September 15.
