Art & Soul Austin will save your sanity and keep your kiddos busy and happy with their Spring Break Art Camps, March 10 – 14 from 9 am - noon each day for kids ages 3 –7 or from 2 – 5 pm for kids 7 – 10. With a mission to "encourage, enhance and explore natural creativity through an art-rich curriculum," the camps will include drawing, painting, collage, printmaking and sculpture. Cost is $180 per child.

Learn about, play on, and celebrate Texas trees at a free event this weekend that includes fun events for the whole family. It's all happening at the Tree Talk Winter Walk event at the Texas Arboretum at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 9 am to 5 pm. Kids can climb trees with professional arborists, build a fort with tree limbs and branches, go on a tree scavenger hunt and more while adults learn tree care tips and purchase native woody species for planting.
Parent & Child Music Class now enrolling. Ten-week session with local musician, Neal Kassanoff. Parents with infants and older kids are encouraged to sign up. The ten-week sessions begins on January 24 at 9:30 am. Space in each 45 minute class is limited to 10 to 12 children. The cost for the session is $150--that's $15 per class, which is awesome.
This Sunday, Jan. 26, head over to the Palmer Events Center for the FREE Austin Family Presents: Summer Camp Fair from 12 – 4 pm. Reps from more than 100 camps around Austin and throughout the state will be on hand amidst live entertainment, face painting, snowboarding and a bounce house. Parents can chat with camp owners and counselors while the kids romp around, and might even win one of 18 camp giveaways.
There is a school in East Austin that you may not be familiar with. East Austin College Prep is dedicated to sending 100 percent of its students to college, and it's a free public school with open enrollment for any child in Travis County! Say whaaat? Exactly. Time to channel your inner primate and join the pack for the Austin Gorilla Run this Saturday, Jan. 25 at 9 am at Mueller Browning Hangar. In the perfect marriage of all that is Austin – fitness and weirdness – this race is the chance to run a 5K with friends while, yes, wearing a gorilla suit (that you keep!). Looking to catch a FronteraFest show that helps you feel like a better parent? Look no further than Bad Parents, a comedy written by local playwright, Max Langert, and based in part on the Listen to Your Mother essays of Ava Love Hanna (Contributing Writer for Do512 Family) and Tristan Mercado. The play is about five adults at a kid's 5th birthday party who worry that they're bad parents. They might have a point.
Come join the Alamo Drafthouse as they kick off the Alamo 100 with a Quote Along from The Goonies. They'll be hosting two separate events including one today (Tuesday, January 21) at 7:15 pm at Slaughter Lane. A second quote along will be held on Friday, January 24 at 11:00 pm at Alamo Drafthouse at the Ritz.
