–> Peaches! Let’s start with the most exciting draw to this part of Texas right now — the bountiful and delicious peach season! The 2020 peach season is here, and we just can’t get enough of this satisfying summer fruit. People are known to drive far and wide to attain these delicious, fruity treats, and there’s no shortage of places to get them ripe off the trees or along a roadside stand. You’ll find many stands with a major concentration along Highway 290 between Fredericksburg and Stonewall and along Highway 87 South. Usually peach season runs through the first week of August. –> Historical Tours:  Fredericksburg’s Historical Tours are a fascinating glimpse into Texas’ past. Because the town is positively bustling with antiquity, there are several different Historical Tours available to the public. You can choose the walking tour of the Historic District or the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. When you visit the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm at the LBJ State Park, you can take a self-guided tour of the World War I-era farm where rangers in period clothing raise crops, take care of animals and cook meals. Kids can learn all about their work on the farm. Advance day passes required, which you can book here.

–> Enchanted Rock State Natural Area: Outdoor lovers can get in some quality hiking and rock climbing at this 1,643-acre recreation area. The centerpiece is Enchanted Rock itself, a massive, 425-foot-tall granite dome that is estimated to be 1 billion years old. Climb to the summit of this big old rock to enjoy a 360-degree view of the surrounding area. The natural formation is as captivating as it is massive. Visitors are encouraged to explore its caves, rock climb, hike, and picnic on its vast expanses. Take note that there’s a very high volume of visitors on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and school breaks, and the park closes when they reach capacity. Take note that you’ll need to make book day passes in advance on the Texas State Parks reservation system.
