Austin has a new, exciting pop-up art installation that invites us to hop in and play! Hopscotch: Light and Sound is an interactive, multi-sensory experience that has taken over 10,000 square feet in North Central Austin through March 31. You can walk through a series of 13 cool exhibits that feature colorful designs, LED lights, videos and music.
What’s so intriguing about this temporary gallery is that every art activation within the project requires participation from guests. Initial images make it appear that we’ll be able to walk through a dream-like environment to explore a playful and interactive space. Guests will be invited to do such things as control clouds and weather via balloons, paint with light through an infrared brush, and dive into a ball pit.
Hopscotch: Light and Sound is constructed by variety of local Austin artists as well as a selection of national and international artists. In the desire to strengthen and continue Austin’s vibrant and creative art scene, proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to their non-profit partners at HOPE Outdoor Gallery.
You can experience Hopscotch: Light and Sound from February 14 through March 31 at 6100 Airport Blvd. Hours will be 4-11 p.m. on Fridays, 1-11 p.m. on Saturdays, and 1-8 p.m. on Sundays. Take note that after 7 p.m., Hopscotch will be for guests ages 18 & up only. There will also be a bar on-site with beverages available for purchase from Deep Eddy Vodka. Free parking is available, and conveniently, this is also located right next to the Highland Station stop on the CapMetro Rail Red Line.
