Eeyore’s 51st Birthday Celebration

If the slogan “Keep Austin Weird” had its own festival, Eeyore’s Birthday would be it. Get weird at Pease Park on Saturday, Apr. 26 from 11 am until dark, the children’s area will be open from 11 am – 4 pm and live music from noon – 6 pm. Admission is FREE! Dress code will be Austin-formal: tutus, bikinis, fairy wings and flip flops. Costumes are encouraged and there will be a contest. Props: hula hoops, bubbles and flower garlands.

Monster Jam 2014 at Frank Erwin Center

Monster Jam comes to Austin this weekend for the first time ever! All the cool girls and car crazy boys are in for what will probably be the best moment of heir young lives ever. There are two shows only–Saturday, April 26 at 7 pm, ideal for kids who can function when up after bedtimes and Sunday, April 27 at 2 pm.

SpringFest at The Backyard in Bee Cave

If you haven’t had a chance to check out Springfest at The Backyard in Bee Cave, this is the year to do it! There will be live music, a boat expo, rides and other activities for the kids, beer and wine tasting, a BBQ cook-off, and artisan shopping. The seventh annual festival has made it even easier this year to get in on the fun by including events on the evening of Friday, April 25 in addition to a full day of festivities on Saturday, April 26.

Austin Parks: Red Bud Isle

Red Bud Isle may be more familiar to dog lovers than parents, but the small peninsula offers beautiful views and freedom for all. It is an ideal setting for children to walk their own dog without too much oversight. Red Bud Isle is a wonderful place to see wildlife, from Great Blue Herons and American Coots to squirrels and turtles outwitting the canine crowd.

 

Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt & Movie in the Park

On Thursday, Apr. 17 starting at 7:15 pm, join the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department in Old Settlers Park for its annual Flashlight Egg Hunt. Let your flashlight be your guide to candy, eggs and prizes and then stay for a movie in the park featuring the family movie The Rise of the Guardians. Be sure to look for the golden eggs- they can be redeemed for a special prize basket!
