– SXSW Community Concerts at Ladybird Lake | Sunday, March 15 | 3 pm – 7 pm
For more than 25 years, the SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake has hosted free concerts for the community. The concerts are free and family-friendly. Attendees can bring a picnic or purchase food from local food trucks and cold drinks from The Beer Garden. This annual tradition is supported by KUTX, EQ Austin and the City of Austin, Office of Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment.
– South x San José | March 12 – 14| Starts at noon each day
South x San José returns for the 26th year to the Hotel San José and Jo’s Coffee South Congress parking lot with live music, local vendors, and good times. This event is always free — no wristbands or RSVPs are required. Hotel San Jose will announce set times daily on Instagram. Please remember: no lawn chairs or outside alcohol are allowed. Baby carriers are recommended over strollers because it does get crowded. More info here.
— South By Soup Fest | Sunday, March 15 | Noon – 6 pm
All ages are welcome to the outdoor stage at Guero’s Taco Bar (1412 S Congress Ave.) on Sunday, March 15, for a great lineup of local musicians. This event is free and open to the public, and money will be raised for Caritas through raffles. Donations are welcome.
— Out By South East Fest| March 12 – 16| Various times here
Meanwhile Brewing’s Out By South East Fest returns with five days of FREE, all-ages live music during SXSW. This outdoor fest features an impressive lineup of official SXSW artists spanning indie rock, alt pop, country, psych, and Latin-influenced sounds, with showcases running Thursday through Monday. Weekend afternoons include vendor markets with local makers, and the whole thing is set up outside so families can spread out and hang out while discovering new music. Meanwhile’s food trucks will be open, drinks will be flowing in the taproom, and there is plenty of space for kids to move around while parents enjoy the tunes.
