It may still feel like summer outside, but Austin’s menus have officially moved on. Pumpkin, apple, pecan, chai, caramel, and all the other flavors of fall are popping up around town, whether or not we’re anywhere close to sweater weather. From pumpkin pancakes and tiny pies to cold brew and ice cream (because, Austin), here are some of our favorite spots to get a taste of fall right now.

This Austin classic is always a hit with kids, and you can always count on Kerbey Lane Cafe to serve seasonal classics. This fall, we’re eyeing their peanut butter, banana, and Nutella pancakes. With eight Austin locations – some of which have small playgrounds for the little ones – you’re sure to get some great fall flavors and maybe even a relaxing family meal at Kerbey Lane. Jo’s is always a solid stop when fall drink season rolls around, and there’s plenty beyond the standard pumpkin latte. Try the Apple Butter Chai with caramel apple butter and cinnamon, the Texas Pecan Latte with brown sugar and nutmeg, or the Campfire Cold Brew topped with marshmallow cold foam and graham crackers. There’s a classic Pumpkin Pie Latte, too, plus a Purple Haze Matcha with coconut and ube cold foam if pumpkin spice isn’t your thing.

Jeni’s is leaning into fall with a new lineup of seasonal flavors that still make perfect sense when it’s 90 degrees outside. This year’s collection includes Hazelnut Stracciatella with roasted hazelnut ice cream and chocolate curls, Pumpkin with Brown Sugar Blondies with warm spices and caramel, and the returning Miso Butterscotch Brownie. There’s also Pear Frangipane, a pear and almond flavor available exclusively in scoop shops.
