Check out this family-friendly holiday shopping event featuring handmade artwork, jewelry and gifts from more than 200 regional artists. —  German Christmas Market @ German Free School of Austin
Dec. 3, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The German-Texan Heritage Society offers shoppers hand-made, imported crafts including plenty of Christmas themed decorations such as nutcrackers and ornaments. It is a festival atmosphere with traditional German Christmas music, tables full of handcrafted items direct from the Erzgebirge region of Germany, a visit by both the historic American Santa Claus and the traditional German Sankt Nikolas with gifts for the children, a hospitality serving of Glühwein (hot spiced wine), coffee, apple cider/juice and gingerbread cookies and plenty of German style baked goodies for purchase. Violet Crown Arts Festival @ Brentwood Elementary School
December 3 & 4, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This open-air festival features tents from 100% local artists and artisans, plus live music, kids’ activities, and tasty food from Austin’s food truck scene. Woodworkers and glass artists, potters, fabric artists, painters, printmakers and photographers, metal smiths and jewelers will be showcasing their gorgeous creations. Live music by local performers, including Teddy and the Talltops. Family activities include face painting, hula-hooping, and hands-on activities brought to you by the Girl Scouts and other local non-profits. FREE admission. More info on their Facebook page.

Cherrywood Art Fair @ Maplewood Elementary
December 10 & 11, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
This annual event is a one-stop holiday shopping experience boasting some of the best art and handmade gifts Austin has to offer in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere with live music and good food. It is also a great opportunity to support student artists through the Little Artist BIG ARTIST mentoring program. FREE admission! —  Armadillo Christmas Bazaar @ Palmer Events Center
Dec. 14-24, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily
This show is actually two events in one: an art fair and music festival. The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar is an 11 day upscale shopping destination featuring award-winning artists, live music and two full bars in a festive, lively atmosphere. This is one of Austin’s longest running art & music festivals attracting around 40,000 shoppers each year.  Visitors can explore an array of hand-made items from 160+ artists carefully chosen from around the country. The Armadillo stage showcases some of Austin’s most popular musical talent. Admission is $8 for a single day pass. Kids 12 and under FREE. Tickets available online here.
