Round Rock’s Centennial Park will transform into a super cool arts festival this Friday, Oct. 3 and Saturday, Oct. 4 at the 5th Annual Chalk Walk! With a new location this year, this free event is expected to be bigger and better than ever! In addition to the amazing chalk art, families are invited to check out hands-on kids activities, a free Biscuit Brothers’ concert, a donut-eating contest, and much more.

Schedule:

  • Friday, October 3, 2014 —  5 – 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 4, 2014 — 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Chalk Walk, hosted by Round Rock Arts Council is a really fun, family-friendly annual event that is FREE and open to the public.  During the Chalk Walk, artists create works of art on the concrete using chalk pastels right before your eyes. Highlights of this year’s event include:

— Music
Friday will feature “Blues Night” with delicious barbeque for sale and a free concert from Texas great John Blondell on the main stage at 6pm.

On Saturday, the main stage will include performances by:

  • Round Rock Ballet Folklorico, 11 a.m.
  • The Biscuit Brothers, noon
  • Rasta EQ, 1 p.m.
  • Dark, 2:30 p.m.
  • The Atlantics, 4 p.m.

— Activities
In addition to the really talented chalk artists you’ll see, you can also plan to check out food trucks, jugglers, pony rides, a petting zoo, a train, street performers, and special activity area for children.

— Donut-Eating Contest!
The first annual donut-eating contest will take place at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 pitting the Round Rock Police Department against the Round Rock Fire Department, with donuts provided by Round Rock Donuts. Go cheer ’em on!

— Art Auction
Closing out the festival will be an Art Auction on Saturday at 6 p.m. in which selected artists, school art programs, teachers, individuals and businesses will submit a work of chalk art to be auctioned off.

Please keep in mind that Chalk Walk will be at a new location this year, at Centennial Plaza, 301 W. Bagdad, Round Rock.
