There is a lot to do this weekend – from kites, to music, to plays and everything in between. So much in fact, it won’t all fit in to our top 10 list! Here are some other notable events happening this weekend:

Today:

— Throw together a cowboy or zombie costume and Bowl for Kids at Highland Lanes and benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas. You can register a team and play this weekend, Feb. 28 – Mar. 2.

Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai continues tonight at the Cedar Park Center at 7:30 pm.  Varekai means “wherever” in the Romany language of the gypsies. Follow this fantastical journey into a world where anything is possible. Tickets are $45 and up and you can buy them here.

— The Austin Spring Home & Garden Show kicks off today at the Austin Convention Center. Attendees can take advantage of direct buying and show-only prices, and parents can let their littles have fun in the Kid Zone with movies, cooking classes, crafts, LEGO fun and art. Show is open from 2 – 8 pm tonight, 10 am – 7 pm tomorrow and 11 am – 5 pm on Sunday. Tickets are $8.50 for adults and FREE for 16 and under. Save $1 when you buy online.

Tomorrow:

STEAM3 (Science + Technology + Engineering + Art + Math “cubed”) will be at the UT Commons Learning Center Saturday and Sunday. Swing by from 9 am – 6 pm either day and check out this all-age appropriate, first-of-its-kind hybrid of a conference and hear speakers, participate in workshops and demos and get lost in the Interactive Playground. The Playground will feature four hands-on, immersive learning environments where kids and adults can experience interactive gaming, augmented reality, a robot lab, algorithmic and nano art, stop motion animation making and more. Ticket prices vary from $7.50 and up, see ticket pricing and info here.

— See the tiny petting zoo at Millie & Mox at their Awesome Animal Morning where your kids can pet, hold and learn about animals like bunnies, chinchillas, bearded dragons, ducklings, tortoises and more, for FREE! You’ll even get a free picture of your babe holding an animal babe, also for free. 10 – 11 am, be there!

— If you are a mom-to-be or know someone who is, please come to our FREE Prenatal Workout at Castle Hill Studio (across the street from Castle Hill Fitness, behind the Conoco) at 9 am. We’ve teamed up with Total Mommy Fitness founder, Tatum Rebelle, who will lead a 45-minute workout, followed by complimentary snacks from KIND and smoothies from The Soup Peddler.

Explore UT, the Biggest Open House in Texas, is a free day, jam-packed with nearly 600 events for kids of all ages, and some for adults, at the UT Campus. Sunday:

— If you haven’t bought a kite yet, do it asap before all of the stores sell out, because the Zilker Kite Festival will be happening from 10 am – 5 pm and you’ll want to be there! This free event at Zilker Park features one of the best photo opportunities of the year, plus games, contests, kite-flying, food trucks and other fun. — The Sherwood Forest Faire continues at the Sherwood Fairegrounds. Open from 10 am – dusk, the faire has it all – food, shoppes, comedy, magic, pirate stuff, knight stuff, jousts, puppets, music, gypsies, faeries, tomato throwing, smack talking and more! Tickets range from $9 – $20, are cheaper when you buy online, and are free for kids under 6 years old. On Sundays, admission is buy one get one from 10 am – noon if you buy your tickets at the gate (every weekend except closing weekend, Mar. 30). Read our review and make plans to go!
