Bats and Barton Springs Poetry Workshop

Time to get those little Shakespeares-in-training busy writing, and what better topic about which to wax poetic than batty bats? On Saturday, Jan. 18 from 9 am – 12 pm, bring your 11 – 14 year-old kiddos to the Austin American Statesman HQ for the Bats and Barton Springs Poetry Workshop. Kids will learn about bats from local bat experts and get a chance to write some nature poetry. This FREE workshop ends at Barton Springs, where they won’t swim but will capture some deep thoughts on Austin’s favorite swimming hole. Registration required.

Shrine Circus Presents: Brunch with the Elephants

The circus is coming! The Ben Hur Shrine Circus will be at the Cedar Park Center from Friday, Jan. 17 – Monday, Jan. 20. This is the Original 3-Ring Circus, complete with aerialists, tigers, lions, acrobats, clowns and magic. They’ve added a FREE and open to the public Brunch with the Elephants event that will be at the Cedar Park Center on Friday, Jan. 17 at 12 pm.

Zumbini Demo Classes

Friday, Jan. 14, you’ll have the chance to try a new movement class for parents and their kids called Zumbini, for free! Think Zumba for littles! Two classes will be held at the Rhythm Studio, one for ages 18 months and under at 9:30 am, and another for ages 18 months – 3 years old at 10:30 am, see event details here.
