Thinkery recently announced some very exciting news — they are opening a brand new preschool this September! The Little Thinkers Preschool will be a research-focused, full-day, drop-off lab school for children ages 3 and 4. This new preschool will be housed in their colorful museum in Mueller — a setting which many Austin children already know and love — giving students access to all of the engaging exhibits with both indoor and outdoor activities. Not will not will the preschool provide high-quality childcare, the curriculum will focus on play-based STEAM learning that promotes kindergarten readiness using Thinkery’s fun, hands-on approach.

Thinkery’s Little Thinkers Preschool will support the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of their students — a diverse and inclusive generation of young children who thrive through their experience of learning alongside others.

The preschool’s curricula and assessment will be designed in collaboration with Thinkery Connect, Thinkery’s early learning research partnership with Dr. Cristine Legare of The University of Texas at Austin, a nationally recognized expert in child development and science education, and Dr. Amy Bryan, the Director of The UT Lab School. Through this research partnership, each student can benefit from best practices in play-based STEAM early learning.

The preschool will be limited in size to allow Thinkery’s early childhood educators to maximize their interaction with each student while also being mindful of social distancing guidelines and community health best practices. Preschool hours will run Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., with extended care available until 5:30 p.m, starting on Sept. 8, 2020. Prospective students, ages 3 and 4, must be potty trained (no diapers or pull-ups) and be up-to-date on vaccines and health screenings. Registration will be based on a lottery admissions process beginning July 10
