It’s snow exciting! There are several chances for Austin-area kids to play in the snow this winter no matter what Mother Nature has planned. Check out the upcoming events where truck loads of snow will be delivered so that you can make tiny snowmen, throw snowballs, and feel that icy cold slush in your very own hands. So dig out those mittens and boots and get ready for some snowy fun!

Where to Play in the Snow in Austin:

10th Annual Mueller Tower Lighting
Tuesday, Dec. 1, 6-8 p.m.
At the Tower Lighting, kids can enjoy 10 tons of real snow to play in!
The free, family-friendly event will feature live music from the Reagan High School Drumline and the Huston-Tillotson Jazz Band. The event will also include free coffee, hot chocolate, and holiday treats as well as activities for children.

Snow Days at Hill Country Galleria
Saturday, Dec. 5; Sunday, Dec. 13; Saturday, Dec. 19, noon – 4 p.m.
Located outside of the Bee Cave Library, you’ll find real snow being delivered to the Hill Country Galleria. Toss a snowball, build a snowman, make a snow angel, and take family photos. Enjoy live holiday music, holiday carolers, and more. Free!

Snow Day in Fisherman’s Park in Bastrop
Saturday, Dec. 5, 12:30 p.m.
Enjoy the annual Snow Day event. Try the 12 foot snow slide then get messy in the large snow play area. Make Christmas ornaments and snow people to take home. “The Santa Clause” movie will start at dusk (around 6 p.m.). There will be approximately 30,000 lbs. of shaved ice as snow. Bring extra clothes, shoes, socks, etc. Tubes will be available on site for the slide. Free!

Christmas Dreams & Snowy Things in Round Rock
NEW DATE: Saturday, Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Head to the CHASCO Family YMCA (Boles Family Sports Complex) for real snow, sponsored by the Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships. Enjoy activities in the snow, giant slides, paintball, tango tower, zip line, horse-drawn wagon rides, train rides, interactive holiday booths, inflatables and rides, concessions, live music, and appearances by Santa from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. as well as world famous clydesdales. Free! Please note that this event was originally scheduled for Dec. 12 but has been postponed to Dec. 19.

Christmas Fair in Downtown Hutto
Saturday, Dec. 12, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The Downtown Christmas Fair features vendors selling handmade items, unique gifts, home decor, jewelry, toys and delicious fair food and drinks!  The YMCA Children’s Area will include crafts, games, inflatables, train rides and… SNOW! Admission to Children’s Area is $5 per child and includes all activities. Buy wristbands at entrance to Children’s Area by Henrietta the Hippo. There will be live entertainment throughout the day. Parking is free at the Co-Op (420 US 79).
