Where to Spend a Night Out Without the Kids

Doesn’t it feel like the perfect time for a grown-up night out?  The kids are back in school and the holidays aren’t upon us (yet), and we thought it sounded like the perfect time to book a sitter and head out on the town.  Head out for some you-time, friend-time, or couple-time at these distinctly grown-up spots!

Cheese Board at Roosevelt via Yelp

— Go for Dinner & Drinks
It can be hard to navigate all of the latest culinary hot spots when our typical idea for dining out is somewhere with a playground or entertainment for the little ones. Thankfully, our friends at Do512.com know all of the fresh (grown-up) places to go. As parents ourselves, we’d like to direct you to somewhere distinctly grown-up, like a Speakeasie or Secret Bar, one of Austin’s Best New Restaurants.

Check out these lists below for some great ideas:

Superstition via Yelp

— Go Dancing
When was the last time you let loose and went dancing?  Austin has fun options for almost any taste in music.  Check out this big list of where to go dancing, and then go hit rewind on your club days at Superstition, two-step at the Broken Spoke, or try a swing dance lesson with the Austin Swing Syndicate.

via Shady Villa Hotel

— Go for a Swim
Go swimming at Barton Springs Pool without packing a giant diaper bag, or take a dip in a fancy hotel pool with a swanky pool pass for a staycation daycation.

Antone’s via Yelp

— Go to a Concert
Enjoy one of the best parts of the Live Music Capital of the World and head to a concert.  You can soak up some classic Austin vibes at The Continental Club or Antones, or catch some jazz at The Elephant Room.  Check out Do512’s full Live Music Calendar here.

Creek and the Cave via Yelp

— Go to a Comedy Show
Is there anything better than a full-on belly laugh that makes your eyes water because it’s just. so. funny?  Check out the lineup at Comedy Mothership, Cap City Comedy, Creek and the Cave, or Velveeta Room, or grab tickets to see a comedian on tour.  Don’t forget to check out these awesome spots for comedy in Austin.
