If you want to really WOW the kids with a trip to a splash pad like no other, take a short drive north of Austin to Leander’s Quarry Splash Pad in Southwest Williamson County Regional Park. Built in 2011 in a former quarry, this impressive park is surrounded by natural rock which provides a really unique, pretty atmosphere. There are fountains and sprinklers of all shapes and sizes as well as water cannons, a waterfall (awesome!), a little slide, a mini climbing wall, a sandbox and plenty of picnic tables, too.

Once you enter the Williamson County Regional Park (on County Road 175, off FM 1431) you can follow signs for the Quarry Splash Pad. (Click here for a park map). There’s plenty of free parking. Admission to the Splash Pad is $2 per person and CASH ONLY. You can simply pay at a little machine by the entrance. There is a concession stand open on weekends only, but you are also welcome to bring your own snacks & drinks (no glass). You can also reserve space at the park for birthday parties and gatherings. (Click here for info about renting pavilions.)

Once you’re in the park, you’ll notice there are several shaded tables, or you can simply put down your towels, beach blankets, etc. on the green space. Kids will have a blast splashing the day away. Parents, just take note that you should wear your swimsuits, as well. You will surely want to get out there to play and splash, too!
