On Sunday, September 16, lace up your running shoes and join us at the 2018 CASA Superhero Run! The whole family can participate in the 5K and Kids 1K at the IBM Client Innovation Center (located in North Austin at 11501 Burnet Rd.). This event also includes a costume contest, an obstacle course to test your super strength and agility, special superhero guest appearances, villains to defeat, bounce houses, tasty food, amazing photo ops and lots of special family activities! And most importantly, this exciting event supports Austin children in the CASA program who have been abused or neglected.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) believes all kids deserve the chance to grow up healthy and happy so that they can become superhero adults too. CASA speaks up for children who’ve been abused or neglected by empowering our community to volunteer as advocates for them in the court system. Children with CASA volunteers are more likely to end up with family, more likely to receive therapy, health care and education, more likely to do better in school, less likely to be bounced from one place to another, and less likely to get stuck in long-term foster care than children without CASA. The Superhero Run helps more than 2,500 children through the CASA programs serving Travis, Williamson, Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe & Hays Counties.

Not a runner? No problem! Not all of us at Do512 Family are runners ourselves, but we participate every year and have the best time. It’s actually just fine to walk or jog the course. (Just take note that if you’re not running, please move further back when staging at the start line to make sure the runners get a quick start.) And if you can’t be present at the event, you can click here to donate and be a superhero from afar.
