If you’re thinking about heading outdoors to get some fresh air in a local park space, there’s some important things to know before you plan your next outing. Keep in mind that it’s imperative to practice social distancing in any setting, and please wear your masks to be a good neighbor.

–> Austin Parks:

  • Update 9/11: Beginning on Saturday, September 12, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department will reopen the Barton Creek Spillway (aka “Barking Springs”), disc golf courses, neighborhood tennis courts, outdoor adult exercise equipment, and campsites at Emma Long Metro Park.
  • The Austin Parks and Recreation Department reopened limited park amenities and outdoor facilities including: boat launches & docks, tennis centers and golf courses. Several concessions will also reopen, which are listed here.
  • The Barton Creek Greenbelt requires a reservation Thursday – Sunday. Reservations are free and can be made online.
  • For a list of closed Austin park facilities, we suggest checking out the Austin Parks and Recreation Department website for any new alerts.

–> Travis County Parks: Many Travis County parks are open from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily for walking, hiking, biking and other permitted activities. Visit parks.traviscountytx.gov for a full list of Travis County Parks that are currently open or closed.

–> Texas State Parks: Most Texas State Parks are open. Please read the latest news on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department website. Day passes and camping online reservations are highly recommended, or call (512) 389-8900. Before you visit: see safety guidelines and tips.

–> LCRA Parks: All LCRA-managed parks are open. Visitors must wear face coverings and should practice social distancing in the parks. No groups larger than five people are allowed, except for families or people living in the same household. Please get the latest LCRA alerts online here.

–> National Parks: If you are considering a visit to a National Park, please note that the National Park Service (NPS) is taking extraordinary steps to implement the latest guidance from the CDC and are increasing access and services in a phased approach across all units of the National Park System. Before visiting a park, please check the park website to determine its operating status. Updates regarding NPS will be posted at www.nps.gov/coronavirus.

–> Lake Pflugerville has reopened. This includes all park amenities, parking lots and lake access. More info.

–> Blue Hole in Georgetown has reopened. Ordinance 2020-50 is now in effect, prohibiting alcohol at the park. More info.
