It’s snow exciting! There are several chances for Austin-area kids to play in the snow this winter no matter what Mother Nature has planned. Check out the upcoming events where you can go down a snow slide, throw snowballs, and feel that icy cold slush in your hands. Dig out those mittens and get ready for some snowy fun!

Snow Day @ Fisherman’s Park in Bastrop
Saturday, Dec. 2, 1-7 p.m.
This year’s Snow Day brings the holiday season—and weather—to Bastrop. With two snow slides and a play area, friends and families can enjoy some holiday cheer and a few snowball fights (even in Texas). Snow Day will also show How the Grinch Stole Christmas and feature food and children’s activities, such as face painting and balloon animals. Free event!

Holiday Tree Lighting Party @ The Triangle
Saturday, Dec. 2, 3-7 p.m.
Enjoy holiday activities such as ornament making, cookie decorating, ice skating, a snow slide, mini train, photos with Santa from 4-6 p.m., live music from 6-7 p.m., and more.

Lights of Love @ Ronald McDonald House
Sunday, Dec. 3, 4-7 p.m.
This holiday season, please join us in supporting local families with critically ill children at the annual holiday event benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas. You’ll find a big variety of kid-focused activities including a snow slide (with real snow!), a visit with Santa, cookie decorating, crafts, music and more. The event is open to all ages, and admission is by donation — $5 for individuals or $20 for your whole family.

Go sledding at the Annual Lights of Love event

Mr. Popper’s Penguins @ The Paramount Theatre
Sunday, December 3, 2 p.m.
During the month of December, it will snow under the marquee for all holiday shows at the Paramount Theatre, including the family production of Mr. Popper’s Penguins. As part of the historic Paramount Theatre’s Discovery Series, this show is great for ages 3 and up. Kids can enjoy pre-show events before settling in for this funny production that features original songs and penguin puppets. Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for kids ages 12 and under. Christmas Dreams & Snowy Things @ CHASCO Family YMCA in Round Rock
Saturday, December 9, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Enjoy real snow activities, giant slides, train rides, interactive holiday booths, live music, concessions, and an appearance by Santa Claus! This event is FREE! Christmas Snow Special Event Parking will provide shuttle services from the East/West Sports Fields Parking Lot, TBCH, and Beauty College.

Christmas Fair @ Downtown Hutto
Saturday, December 9,  10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The YMCA Children’s Area at this Fair will include crafts, games, inflatables, train rides and… SNOW! Admission to Children’s Area is $5 per child and includes all activities. There will also be live entertainment throughout the day with performances from local bands and choirs.

Snow Day @ Science Mill
Save the date for the 3rd annual Snow Day! They will transform the outdoor Science & Art Park into a winter wonderland with tons of snow. Tickets go on sale soon online here.

–> Bonus: While it has not officially opened yet, we’re curious to learn more about the “human snow globe” at the brand new Winter Wonderland at the Circuit that is set to debut on Friday, Dec. 1.
